The slow-carb recipe created by author of The 4-Hour Chef Tim Ferriss, promotes weight loss by cutting insulin-spiking carbs such as bread, pasta and rice. It goes to show you don't have to compromise on flavour if you want to lose weight. Diets can be useful, but the real secret to managing your weight is eating tasty, yet healthy food all the time.
Rack of lamb
1 rack of lamb / 1 egg / 1tsp Dijon mustard / 100g breadcrumbs / 1 clove of garlic, chopped / 2tbsp parsley, chopped / 200g sweet potato, mashed / 50g butter / 8 vine tomatoes
To make
- Preheat the oven to 200˚C/gas mark 6.
- Beat the egg with the mustard, then mix with the breadcrumbs, garlic and chopped parsley.
- Coat the lamb in the egg and herb crust and roast for around 17 minutes until pink inside.
- Meanwhile, peel the sweet potatoes and boil them in water for 15 minutes.
- Mash the potatoes with the butter and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve with the lamb and roasted tomatoes.

Lamb is packed with the essential amino acid tryptophan, which helps to regulate appetite.
Sweet potatoes are high in the powerful antioxidant betacarotene, which helps to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and maintain a healthy heart.
