The popular Speedcross shoe is really light and breathable, allowing heat and water to escape, and it fits like a glove straight from the box. It’s extremely stable with excellent grip. My favourite running shoe.
The Fenix has an abundance of navigation aids and can collect data for well over 24 hours, in UltraTrac mode. You can set an alert for your pace dropping, going too fast, or if you go off-route. It’s also heart-rate compatible.
Most ultras include a seam-taped waterproof on the mandatory kit list, even if rain isn’t forecast. This waterproof is the lightest in the world at just 110g and scrunches down to fist size.
This pack can carry 13 litres of kit, plus a 1.5-litre hydration bladder and the vest-style design spreads weight around so it’s no swinging about. Lots of pockets and loops mean items can be accessed easily on the go.
Weighing just 167g, this is far warmer than it should be and can be worn inside-out for greater breathability or wind resistance. Such a great bit of kit that my wife has stolen it from me.
