The internet is a varied and wonderful place, one that provides endless respite for bored office workers. No matter how hard companies try, there’s simply no way to block every website that’s not work-related, and even the most hyper-vigilant employer is unlikely to take into account the UK’s growing obsession with cabins.

Cabin fever has struck through the blog Cabin Porn, created by entrepreneur Zack Klein, founder of video-sharing website Vimeo, which features pictures of cabins in remote places all around the world. The dream of escaping the hurly-burly of modern life by heading for a log-lined sanctuary is apparently especially strong in the UK, which provides more traffic for the website than anywhere else.

Unsurprisingly, Londoners are particularly keen on the idea of escaping it all. After squeezing through the morning crush on the Tube, it’s not hard to see why a website full of far-flung cabins free of other people is an attractive proposition.

The best thing? Building, owning and staying in your very own wooden Man Den doesn’t have to be a pipe dream. If you fancy building your own cabin from scratch but barely scraped a D in your DT GCSE, then sign up to one of the many log cabin courses available all around the UK. British Log Cabins offers a two-week Log Building 101 course that costs £1,776, so you’re only a fortnight away from creating a log cabin as good as these...
